CUTTERS OFFENSIVE LINE - PERFECT PROTECTION |
Bloomington, Indiana – This Saturday the Indiana Cutters football team travels to Bourbon, Indiana to take on the Kosciusko County Mustangs in the Interstate Football League championship game. In their semi-final game last Saturday, the Cutters routed the Southwest Ohio Blazers by a score of 52 – 6. This year the Cutters offense has been successful moving the ball both on the ground and in the air. Quarterback Aaron White leads the league in pass efficiency. Running backs Israel Thompson and Lee Becton have sparked a potent rushing attack. Fullbacks Bobby Burton and Mark Whitaker have both run the ball effectively while opening holes for Thompson and Becton. While the backfield receives most of the attention, they will be the first to admit that the offensive line is really responsible for their success this year in scoring nearly 30 points per game. The Cutters offensive line has not allowed a sack of their quarterback in 21 straight games since the first game of the season in 2007. The Cutters were an expansion team last year. You can say that the offensive line is perfect in their pass protection. The offensive line consists of Jimmy Lirot at center; Shaun Caudill and Josh Graves at guards; and Ricky Brown and Chris Hester at tackles. Sean Foley plays both center and guard while player-coach Jason Mack fills in wherever and whenever needed. The importance of rewarding his linemen is not lost on White. Last Sunday he and his wife hosted the offensive linemen for dinner. “Those guys ate tons of spaghetti and all the meat in my house,” said White. He’ll be happy to keep feeding the “big boys” up front if they can extend the perfect sackless streak to 22 games this Saturday. “Don’t tell those guys but spaghetti is fairly cheap. I’ll get lots more if they keep the defense off me this week,” White quipped.
